When it comes to quality of life, families often have to decide what is important to them. In the I-72 Corridor, families do not have to choose. They can have both. Get outdoors and enjoy many of the parks located in the I-72 Corridor. In Jacksonville, you will find a community park with a classic Ferris Wheel and several others where you can play, skateboard and even fish.

In Pittsfield, you can also swim at the city park and cool off in the hot summer weather.


This area of Illinois has several lakes to visit and is also by the Illinois and Mississippi rivers so there are plenty of opportunities for water recreation. Below are two popular ones.

Lake Pittsfield is a 200-acre lake that is surrounded by 480 acres of recreational land, making this a premier destination year-round. Boating and fishing are abundant on the lake, plus you can play softball, soccer, go on the playground, enjoy a picnic, hike or camp here.

The Pine Lakes Resort sits on a beautiful 45-acre lake in Pittsfield, IL. This is one of several likes that you can fish and swim in or camp by.

Illinois has long played an important role in our nation’s history. As the birthplace of Lincoln, we have historic sites to keep any history buff busy and you can easily spend a week just completing local tours. Just be sure to stop by the Pike County Historic Museum and Pike County All Wars Museum as well.

While in Winchester, you can also visit the Winchester Old School Museum and the Stephen Douglas statue in Winchester.
